A Leader in Accounts Payable Automation

Humble Beginnings and Perseverance

The Paypool brand was created to better differentiate our AP automation solution, formerly known as Anybill, from a diverse suite of payment products and services. Paypool’s AP automation technology and services are still supported by the same staff, technology, and corporate team that has been in place since 2001 when Anybill was founded.

When Matt Voorhees and Pat Roche started Anybill in 2001, they already had significant experience dealing with accounts payable challenges. It did not take long for them to realize they were onto something big. From the start, Anybill was self-funded and quickly established key partnerships with local accounting firms, and began to build its client base in and around the Washington, D.C. area. That local presence quickly became a regional and national one, as the company continued its expansion.

Steady Growth Through Strategic Expansion and Market Validation

By the time that competition hit the emerging accounts payable market, Anybill already had the reputation of an industry leader. Foresight led them to create an infrastructure that was scalable to accommodate growth and support expansion as Anybill developed additional services. Anybill was one of the early software-as-a-service (SaaS) providers in the market. The company poured significant accounts payable experience into its SaaS platform, offering clients and partners a full-service AP solution that included foundational elements such as advanced workflow, document management, and payment services.

We began to use the Paypool name in 2017 and will continue to increase the service scope under this brand. The technology infrastructure, staff and resources supporting Paypool’s AP solution remains the same, with a foundation and history going back to 2001.

Corporate Philanthropy

Paypool Community Involvement

From a business perspective, Paypool has expanded nationally but stayed true to its roots in the Washington, D.C. area. The same is true of our charitable efforts, as the company supports causes with both local and national impact.

Paypool has a strong relationship with the American Heart Association, sponsoring their events and participating in their campaigns over many years. CEO Matt Voorhees was chairman of the Washington, D.C. area Heart Ball for two years, and many other individuals contribute their services to heart.

From a local community perspective, Paypool supports Companies for Causes (CSC), an organization founded to involve businesses in contributing to their local environment. Currently, CSC is focused on supporting Eastern high school, as well as the elementary and middle schools that feed into Eastern. This includes student mentoring, sponsoring internships, and whatever other assistance is needed.

Continuing in the education area, Paypool is a proud sponsor of Social impact 360, an organization founded to establish social entrepreneurship mentoring for students in some of the top colleges and universities in the country. Si360 currently works with numerous schools and has 1,000+ alumni from its program.
